Fresh off the high heels of his hit show ‘Aunty Merle The Musical’, Marc Lottering returns to the stage with his brand new stand-up show ‘NOT A MUSICAL’ at Theatre On The Bay from June 12 to 29.
The show features 80 minutes of Lottering and his brand new material – solo.
When asked how he first became aware of his comedic “powers”, Lottering told the Next 48hOURS in an interview from the recent past: “I think, for every comedian, it’s that memorable first moment when you’re holding a microphone and a full room of people is laughing along with you. And you’re fully clothed. That moment happened for me in 1998.”

How do you come up with enough material for a show? When are you satisfied enough to share it with people?
When I see something that amuses me, I jot it down on paper or on a serviette, and hope to remember to write something funny around it. I nervously share it with an audience. They are the best judges. If they like it, they laugh. I then develop that gag and sharpen it, timing-wise. That’s why I believe that the audience in the third week gets the best show. It’s not fair, but it’s just the way it goes.
