Electronics and Gaming Expo at the CTICC this weekend

Cape Town’s premier Electronics & Gaming Expo will be back at the Cape Town International Convention Centre for its fourth consecutive year.

The event will be hosted over three days from Friday to Sunday, July 27 to 29, and will be bringing attendees a variety of activities, exhibitors and events to suit almost any geek culture preference.

The Friday of EGE 2018 (#EGE2018) will offer all school pupils attending the expo a discounted entry. For only R25 school pupils in school uniform will get access for the day and be able to participate in a number of tournaments. Proceeds from the school entries will be donated to the development of gaming and technology in disadvantaged areas.

Highlights for this year’s event include specials from Computer Mania, Battle Bunker and more. There will be two cosplay competitions hosted – free-for-all on Saturday and a Construction Competition on Sunday. Good Hope FM will also be broadcasting a number of their shows live from EGE, and thanks to PlayStation SA, there will be a number of PlayStation 4 consoles up for grabs.

Expo regulars, Friends of Design, will be launching their new App, as well as announcing the winner of their ‘Name Our Tribal Mascot’ competition. Attendees can also expect a wide variety of vendors retailing games, gaming merchandise and other geek-related items, comics and more.

Competitive gaming is being handled by ACGL with ‘Call of Duty’, ‘FIFA’, ‘Fortnite’ and more on offer over the weekend. Cash prizes and products will be up for grabs. ACGL, Computer Mania, MWEB and the ZA Gaming Alliance Facebook group will also join forces to bring a new PC stage to life with a variety of mini-tournaments happening over the weekend. Attendees can compete in ‘Dota 2’, ‘League of Legends’, ‘CS:GO’ and more at various times over the three days.
