“‘That’s Life…That’s what all the people say. You’re riding high in April and you’re shot down in May…but I know, I’ll change my tune. When I’m back on top in June.” These lyrics ring true for every performer and I am so grateful to still do what I love doing.” So says well known Cape Town entertainer Alvon Collison.
To celebrate the launch of his new CD entitled ‘The Cabaret Years’, the artist and his co-conspirators are doing a show called, ‘That’s Life’, “featuring all my favourite songs that I sang during my years as a cabaret performer in venues like The Hong Kong Club in Harare, Thaba Nchu Sun, The Cape Sun, Wild Coast Sun, Top of the Carlton, The Regency in Sea Point, The Kyalami Ranch, Athens by Night in Hillbrow, Annabels at The Landrost Hotel, The President Hotel, West End Nightclub Waterfront and many more.”
Songs included in the show are ‘Lovely Way’, ‘When you’re smiling’, ‘Love Story’, ‘I’ve gotta be me’, ‘Somewhere’, ‘Amore Scusami’, ‘If we only have love’, ‘That’s Life’ and ‘I am what I am’. The show also features the likes of Shannon Lewis, Renee Osbourne, Janine Pick and Faried Swartz and it promises to be an afternoon of “lovely music, laughter and nostalgia. The perfect antidote for the winter blues,” adds Collison.
