Take your family to GrandWest from March 28 to April 7 to experience the first, fun-filled Funderland Festival – a unique expo designed especially to entertain kids.
No matter what your child is interested in, Funderland is almost certain to cater for it with 28 themed fun zones, stage shows by one of South Africa’s best illusionists, comedy, live music, dancing, circus acts and even the freestyling soccer trickster, Kyle Rinquest, who combines soccer stunts with comedy.
Funderland is committed to developing local talent and budding young stars are encouraged to enter the talent competition. Along with this competition there will also be the national Mzansi talent search by the award-winning producer Gabi Le Roux, who has produced over 50 albums for some of SA’s biggest stars. This national search aims to nurture home-grown talent, further the dreams of local performers and use a nationwide platform to showcase our valuable SA talent.
“There is so much fun and entertainment on offer at Funderland,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “Experience everything from dinosaurs to gaming and technology, a Princess Dreamhouse, Cooking Fun and outdoor sports. On stage you’ll see magicians, dancers and musicians. Every moment is filled with thrills at Funderland,” she said. “Your kids will love it and it is entertaining for adults too.”
The whole family can look forward to the well-known SA artists who will keep the vibe going with musical entertainment and there will be opportunities to get your CDs autographed. Check the Funderland (www.funderland.co.za) website for the full show schedule. The kids should love dancing along with the colourful Lollos and the cheeky Bop Boppers. The energetic DHL Stormers Girls cheerleaders will also make an appearance.
For the gamers, Funderland is working with the African Cyber Gaming League to offer visitors the ultimate eSports opportunity. A variety of tournaments will be hosted for players of all ages, including all levels of gaming acumen, from beginners to seasoned pros, and select tournaments for parents and kids to compete together.
“There is so much for everyone to do at this unique expo,” adds Matthys. “The different games are a great way to engage with your kids and have fun together.”
