Serving burgers and family meals to South Africans for 50 years, Wimpy opened a new store at the busiest tourist hub on the continent, The V&A Waterfront.
The new V&A Waterfront restaurant marks the brand’s next step into the future with a well designed new-look store that settles in well with the Waterfront’s surrounds.
“With our first restaurant in the prestigious V&A Waterfront, we knew we couldn’t just replicate our existing look,” said Creative Executive, Livia Coetzee. “Through the use of mixed materials, colour, detail, and texture, we’ve created something contemporary and filled with energy – a space to break away and enjoy a brand new Wimpy experience.
Speaking of the menu, Wimpy has added a variety of new items that are perfectly suited to Cape Town. Among the classics, this should make choosing a favourite meal all the more difficult.
We tried a few old favourites and had to taste some new items in the menu that is sure to please locals. Their Hake Mighty Sub is a large meal and feels like one is tucking into a Gatsby. Carefully filled with fresh salads and crispy hake goujons drizzled with a tangy tartare sauce. This one is going to be pleaser this summer coupled with the Strawberry Mojito Sharing Jug.
There a few mocktails to choose and they come in these large sharing jugs with loads of ice perfect for any summer meal.
Those wanting something healthier to indulge in can look forward to three new Lunch Bowl options. A favourite, for example, is the Chicken Schnitzel Lunch Bowl. Its golden brown deliciousness is rounded off with Wimpy’s very own mustard mayo.
“Though the V&A Waterfront branch’s look is modern and on trend, there’s no missing the iconic red benches,” said Luise Peters, Wimpy Marketing Manager. “With comfortable seating and cosy spaces, we encourage our customers in Cape Town to make time for more shared moments together.”
Located on the upper level of the V&A Waterfront conveniently overlooking the ever popular amphitheatre.
