Vortex Trance Festival

Vortex Trance Adventures presents its annual 5-day outdoor music festival in celebration of the Summer Solstice.  Music and workshops, trade stalls, food vendors, dance floors and chill areas all set along the riverbanks. Maribou State SA Tour

British EDM duo Maribou State return to Cape Town to perform a live DJ set for local fans. Maribou State’s sound is eclectic, downtempo and steeped in classic hip-hop, with their new album being an updated version of trip-hop. They’re a discotheque trailblazing duo, originally from London, who have built an international reputation via a string of well-loved Eps.

Radio Kalahari Orchestra

South African folk group, Radio Kalahari Orchestra (RKO) performs as part of its Summer Season Festival. RKO’s music extends from a deep-rooted place, which takes on Ghoema, Latin and Africana music, and anything else that can be found along the dirt road. Their lyrics are firm in the present, and with acoustic equipment almost as old as their motto, their sound style includes violin, guitar, dobro, mouthpiece, bass, accordion, gazoos and an old Fender Telecaster.

Symphony Choir: Festive Concert

The Symphony Choir presents an outdoor concert, directed by Alexander Fokkens and accompanied by the Brass Quintet and the acclaimed Gentleman’s Ensemble. The choir member’s children also perform a few Christmas songs and wine, coffee and snacks are on sale. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. Picnic baskets may also be ordered ahead of time from Simon’s at Groot Constantia.

Texas Live at Kirstenbosch

Scottish band, Texas, performs in South Africa for the first time ever this Summer. The alternative pop-rock band is on tour promoting their latest album Jump On Board. Oude Libertas presents a live performance by acclaimed saxophonist, Andrew young, and his band, as part of its Summer Season Festival.Hailed as the ‘Prince of the Saxophone’, Young gives a show that is an eclectic mix of blues and rock ‘n roll, which includes his unique performances of Watermelon Man, Georgia and Baker Street – the most requested songs of his repertoire. Young’s special guest for this performance is Rock Hall Of Fame and guitar legend, Jethro Butow.

Goldfish Submerged Sessions

Electronic duo, Goldfish are back at Shimmy Beach Club to take over the 2017/18 summer season with 7 Submerged sessions. Coenie de Villiers – 10 Fingers

Coenie de Villiers performs both new and old compositions accompanied by cellist Susan Mouton. De Villiers is a South African household name and the recipient of a medal of honour by the South African Council of Arts and Sciences. His creative work and recordings were banned by the previous regime, but his career proceeded to span four decades.
