Afrikaans music fans have lots to look forward to this weekend, when six of the country’s best artists performing at the Bakgat Somer Opskop, taking place at the Grand Arena, GrandWest for the sixth year running on Saturday, December 9.
The award-winning musicians who will be putting on four hours of non-stop hits, are Jay du Plessis, Theuns Jordaan, Elvis Blue, Manie Jackson, Leah and the hilarious Wicus van der Merwe, who will also be MC for the evening.
“Bakgat Somer Opskop is a highlight at GrandWest,” says Elouise Matthys, the PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest. “Every year thousands of fans flock to see this fun-loving, thigh-slapping, brilliant show. We are so honoured to host it for the sixth consecutive year,” she adds.
As usual, the exceptional musicians who will be performing need no introduction to Afrikaans music-lovers,” Matthys goes on. “It is such a treat to have six big stars performing in one show; it makes for an incredible atmosphere. Fans who have not yet experienced the ‘Bakgat Somer Opskop’ should do themselves a favour and come to this year’s show. It is one of the best Afrikaans music nights of the year.”

Tickets cost between R250 and R285, and are available now from Computicket. It is a family show, but children under three are not allowed.
