Masiphumelele Township Art Tour
A walking tour by Culture Connect SA that explores the creative industry of the township of Masiphumelele. The tour includes a stop by the award-winning Zizamele Ceramics to view highly sought after collectable ceramic pieces and Ndileka Biyo takes you through the process of handmade fashion using Shweshwe, a printed dyed cotton fabric that is widely used in traditional South African clothing. Then finally enjoy Nonny’s home-made lunch straight from the kitchen of Nonny’s Bakery and Cafe.

Live Art Network Africa
The Live Art Network Africa is launched at the Institute for Creative Arts at an event comprising of a symposium, performances and screenings. The programme features nationally and internationally acclaimed curators and artists, as well as prominent academics who straddle the fields of art and academia, alongside emerging voices in performing art research and criticism. Performances include works by Nora Chipaumire, Khanyisile Mbongwa, Dean Hutton, Mamela Nyamza, Chuma Sopotela and Jackie Manyaapelo.

Wavescape: surf & ocean film festival

GrandWest hosts the Transformers Exhibition, an immersive and interactive exhibition that features 14 animatronic Transformers, 9 sculptures scaled between two and nine metres and another 20 statues varying in size. They are made from reused car parts, metal and other repurposed materials. The exhibition also features a children’s area where young fans can have their photos taken.
