Bow songs of these southern cultures form the basis for a modern retelling of these stories in a contemporary sound-setting.

Mendelssohn’s Elijah 14

The Philharmonic Choir of Cape Town, the Symphony Choir of Cape Town and the UCT Symphony Orchestra collaborate to bring audiences a “grand choral spectacular” of Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah. Mendelssohn’s Biblical oratorio is a chronicle about the life of the bold prophet Elijah. The composer was determined that the drama of the story be of central importance: a curse bringing the scourge of drought, then despair, wickedness, cruelty, relief, tenderness and mercy all play their part.
