Oyster & Champagne Festival

Hillcrest Quarry hosts the annual Oyster and Champagne Festival, the upmarket event that serves a wide selection of bubbly, Cap Classique and Sparkling wines accompanied with a range of oysters from plain to spicy creations of the freshly-shucked kind. Guests are asked to dress in elegant white and gold. Each patron receives a branded flute glass and 5 tasting tickets. Food and drink stalls, cash bar and refreshments available at the event.

TEDxYouth@CapeTown’s main event sees 8 young speakers, between the ages of 16 to 24 years, share their take on the importance of embracing their diversity as South Africans. Guests can look forward to hearing the guest, Marietta Hopley speak about her journey of a successful Cape Town entrepreneur and humanitarian. The Bergvliet High School brass band will celebrate the event’s theme with their upbeat, authentic African music, which is complemented by the guest appearance of Elandré Schwartz who takes the audience on his own musical journey.

iPotsoyi Spring Festival

iPotsoyi (which means ‘party’) is an established urban outdoor event that is centred around the love and enjoyment of a good vibe and party experience. The vibe at this event is Hip-Hop, House and Afro-House, including performances by top local acts including Black Motion, Nasty C, Youngsta, OkMalumkoolkat, Frank Casino, Distruction Boyz, Mshayi and a surprise SA hip hop headline act (announced 6 October). Party-goers are encouraged to bring along their camp chairs, blankets, cooler boxes and enjoy the party vibe at the Ostrich Farm

Big Farm Taste

Agri-Expo Livestock presents a world-class showcase of the South African livestock industry. Visitors sample cheese, wine, craft beer, boergoat meat, “skaapstertjies”, tripe and ice cream, and are exposed to unique combinations such as Bok and Bier.  An array of craft and artisan products such as wine, Karoo lamb sosaties, roosterkoek, steak, yoghurt and ice cream are available for tasting and sale at food and wine stalls as well. The program includes performances by popular Afrikaans singers, line dancers, Boeresport, a Big Ice Cream Eating Competition and a Big Braai Competition. Children are able to meet more than 300 different animals, as well as participate in activities such as pony rides, competitions and touch farms.

Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival

The Stellenbosch Craft Beer Festival is a bi-annual exhibition of local micro breweries, food trucks and live entertainment. The Oktoberfest edition hosts around 20 breweries – such as Fokof Lager, Stellenbosch Brewing Co, Elysium Brewing Company and more – allowing festival goers to explore different styles of beers and seeing what local brewmasters have to offer.

Wild Food Foraging Experience

Veld and Sea presents a Wild Food Foraging Experience, where participants are led on a guided tour to learn about wild edibles and their surrounds. The excursion includes a three-course lunch, discovering the world of wild flowers, basic introduction of wild edibles, learning the rules of sustainable foraging and information sheets and recipes on the wild foods prepared.

Oktoberfest at Eaglevlei

Eaglevlei hosts its own Oktoberfest during the month of October, showcasing local craft beer, authentic German food and music. The event runs over the first three weekends of the month and features live entertainment. Tickets are sold as group packages, and include 10 All Day Passes, 1 5L Beer Tower, 2 Exclusive Hausmeister Platters and access to a server. The platters include Eisbein, Bratwurst, Cheese Wors, Pork Bangers, Apple and Sage Pork Bangers, Pork Schnitzel Strips, Gammon Kebabs, German Potato Salad and a variety of homemade breads.

Monday Night Magic: Season 5

The Cape Town Magic Club hosts its 5th season of Monday Night Magic, where audiences are entertained with a variety of illusions, sleight of hand, mentalism and magic. Guests are welcomed to the show by the members of Black Orchid Burlesque South Africa. Guests are able to enjoy pre- or post-show drinks, including a special Monday Night Magic cocktail. Then, downstairs all manner of mystery unfolds, where nearly 30 magicians who specialise in various disciplines, entertain audience members.
