Christmas wishes to come true at Festive Ideas market

This year, the annual Festive Ideas market is set to make almost any festive wish come true as organiser Wilna Rabe has compiled her personal wish list and added some new exhibitors for finding that perfect gift for friends and family.

The market, which runs from Wednesday to Sunday, October 25 to 29, promises to be a treasure trove of original and hand-crafted items for your home, garden and wardrobe and will also include some luxurious treats. Festive Ideas is getting into an organic mood with the famed Peacock Palace packed with organic touches, greenery and plants and recycled beauties.

Visitors to the market will be able to give their interior and exterior spaces a water-wise makeover with a choice of hanging plants, succulents from The Little Fat Plant, green sculptures from Andreas Topiaries, botanical art from William Schlechter, and concrete planters from Simply in Concrete as well as Enamel @Simondium Country Lodge. If you want to put your green fingers to the test, you will be able to try some of the Super Sprout products, which come in handy slabs ready with heirloom herbs and vegetable seeds. Other exhibitors will offer wares from home-made fashion, indulgent linens and fashioned pendants to leather bags and hand-crafted jewellery.

The deli will solve your pantry problems for the holiday season with delectable homemade goodies ranging from cookies and biscuits, fudge and brittle, preserves to natural sweetness from Darling Sweet and Darling Honey, traditional biltong and of course chef Mynhard Joubert’s incredible Christmas cakes. If deli shopping builds up an appetite, shoppers can try some bites from the food trucks, a cuppa from the Colony Coffee station, a glass or two from the wine bar or a refreshing Wow Yummy Juice and delicious Italian ice cream.

The gardens will offer a relaxed respite between shopping with a dedicated children’s play area. Ample and secure parking will be available.

* Entry is R30 per adult with kids under 18 entering for free.

Opening hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm, but closing at 3pm on the Sunday.

The Simondium’s Country Lodge is easily accessible on the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek, only 60km from the Cape Town central, 13km from the Klapmuts turn-off and a quick 15km from Stellenbosch via the Helshoogte Pass.
