Red Riding Hood for the holidays

The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company will be performing one of their most popular shows, ‘Red Riding Hood’ during the school holidays. The production will run from Monday, October 2, until Saturday, October 7, at 10.30am and will be staged at the Nassau Theatre (on the grounds of Groote Schuur High School), Palmyra Road in Newlands.

This fairytale follows the well-known story of the naughty little girl who disobeys her mother and instead of taking the safe road to visit her granny, goes into the wood where she encounters a big bad wolf – in this adaptation a silly Loopy de Loop (from the titular cartoon) type who is an ex Music Hall star. Red Riding Hood learns some important lessons along the way.

The show promises heaps of audience participation and sing along songs that the kids will be invited to sing along with the cast. The duration of the show is 40 minutes and it is ideal for the entire family to enjoy.

Red Riding Hood is adapted and directed by Elton John Duffy, who has been producing Children`s Theatre for the past 24 years. This show stars Mar-li Van Der Merwe as Granny and Red Riding Hood’s Mother, Dean Van Der Ventel  as the Woodcutter, Elton John Duffy as the Big Bad Wolf and Desle McConney as Red Riding Hood.
