Open Book Festival 2017

The Book Lounge and the Fugard Theatre present the annual Open Book Festival, a literary festival with a focus on South African literature in an international context. The festival includes over 150 literary events, featuring over 100 authors over 5 days. Although the events are spread across Cape Town and its surrounds, the hub of the festival takes place at the Fugard. The full programme is available on the festival’s official website.

Killarney Extreme Festival

With a day of really exciting racing expected from the Sasol Global Touring Cars (GTC), the Extreme Supercars, Engen Volkswagen Cup, single seater Investchem Formula 1600’s, Hankook Formula Vee, Clubman Saloons and Red Square Kawasaki Masters, during the 2017 Extreme Festival meeting at Killarney, there should be enough robust high speed action for everyone.

Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers Circus

Kirstenbosch Compton Herbaria Tour

Join Culture Connect SA as botanist Dr. Nicola Bergh, guides you on a behind-the-scenes botanical tour through the Compton Herbaria’s abundant plant collection. Zip Zap Circus

September’s performance showcases students from Zip Zap’s advanced programmes, where they show off the results of their incredible dedication and team work. This year Zip Zap presents its newest show 25 years – An Acrobatic Walk Down Memory Lane, which is a celebration of how the circus has changed lives and impacted communities in greater Cape Town.

La Capra Goat Run Festival

The event consists of a 5km fun walk/run, and 8km, 15km and 28km trail run. There is also a buggy- and wheelchair-friendly meander route for mothers and toddlers taking part in the 5km fun walk/run. There is plenty of children’s entertainment as well as a variety of prizes up for grab for winners in all distances. This year’s Goat Run introduces a lively festival, which offers a host of activities, live music and food stalls, as well as La Capra wine served on tap and craft beer from the Cape Brewing Company.
