ViniChoral: A Pairing of Wine and Choral Song

VOX Cape Town and Groot Constantia present ViniChoral, a unique event that pairs wine with choral music. The city’s newest singing group collaborates with the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa to pair renowned wines with choral music from the Renaissance to the 21st Century. The event seeks to explore which choral style best accompanies Groot Constantia’s famous wines, introducing a multi-sensory experience for guests.

I’m in love with a Guitarist

Jonathan Rubain presents the third version of his production I’m in love with a Guitarist. This event brings together some of South Africa’s leading guitarists, such as Errol Dyers, Allou April, Cameron Ward, Julius Schultz and this year’s headliner Ernie Smith, on one stage. The artist line-up is made of guitarists who all play a different genre and style of music.

Ramon Alexander Quartet

Pianist Ramon Alexander brings his quartet to the Foyer Sessions at the Masque Theatre. With the launch of his 2011 debut solo album, Picnic at Kontiki, Alexander became a mainstay of Cape Jazz. He has performed and recorded with numerous artists in a variety of genres. Notable collaborations include Robbie Jansen, Alvin Dyers, Schalk Joubert Band, Basil Moses, Allou April and Darryl Andrews.

Neo Muyanga & Nancy Mounir – Once When Cape Strung Cairo

Youngblood presents a once-off performance by Neo Muyanga and Nancy Mounir, entited Once When Cape Strung Cairo. This event sees the two musicians showcase their meanderings on a plethora of instruments made out of gut, wire, steel, wood and electronic circuitry. Muyanga is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who searches avidly for musical miscellany where least expected, in the faith it may lead to treasures yet undreamed.

South African Choral Concert

The Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town collaborates with The Phenomenal Opera Voices to present a South African Choral Concert at Groote Kerk. With a South African theme in mind The Philharmonia Choir of Cape Town, conducted by Richard Haigh, performs works by two internationally renowned South African composers: the San Gloria by Péter Louis van Dijk and Prayers and Dances of Praise from Africa by Peter Klatzow.

Juliana Venter & Rolf-Erik at Blah Blah Bar

The Blah Blah Bar presents a collaborative performance by South African-born composer and vocalist Juliana Venter and world renowned Norwegian saxophonist, composer and improvisational virtuoso, Rolk-Erik Nystrom.
