Local rock legends raise R700 000 and gifts Cape Town a free show

Fokofpolisiekar called and the crowd answered. In March, the celebrated rockers exceeded their Thundafund crowdfunding dream target of R500000 within nine days to fund the making of their first full length album in 11 years.
This did not stop their fans from pledging for more merchandise items from the band’s Thundafund page. To show their appreciation, “Die Bende” promised a free show in Cape Town should they reach the R700000 mark.

This promise was made to encourage more of their fans to pre-order the new album, as only 450 albums were pre-ordered by March 31. To date, 725 have been pre-ordered.
The R700000 target was reached on April 20, with 30 days of the crowdfunding campaign to spare.
Fokofpolisiekar have announced a free show at Mercury Live in Cape Town on Thursday, May 25. The doors will open at 7pm and will work on a first-come first-served basis as the venue’s capacity does not allow for more than 400 people. The performance will start at 9pm, so diarise accordingly.

There are plenty more items that might be of interest to fans to pledge for on the band’s crowdfunding page, including goodies like Fokofpolisiekar watches, Brand Suid-Afrika and ‘Antibiotika’ vinyl combos, merchandise bundles, a Fokof Lager light box and Johnny de Ridder’s American Mustang Fender (1978) guitar to the value of R25000.
Meanwhile, the band is hard at work in studio to make one of the most anticipated albums of 2017.
Fokofpolisiekar convenes on average three times a week to craft the album of 10 songs.

Follow them on Facebook (www.facebook.com/Fokofpolisiekarband/) for regular live webcasts and be a fly on the wall of their writing process.
These webcasts tend to include plenty of headbanging, air-guitaring and other antics.
At this stage, the album is scheduled for release on October 3. Those that pre-ordered a digital copy of the album will receive it in September.
