As the Summer of Champions draws to a close there’s chance for one final feature race fling, with the annual Cape Town Prawn Festival taking place at Kenilworth Racecourse on February 25.
One of the more eagerly awaited culinary delights on the Cape Town calendar, racegoers can get their hands on a special offer of R169 per kg of prawns, including sauce and rice or chips.
The horseracing highlight on the day will be the running of the Vasco Prix Du Cap (Gr 3) contest for fillies and mares over 1400m, with a stake of R250000 on offer.
Racegoers will also be entertained by a jazz band while the DJ on course will add to the vibe of the day and there will be enough to keep the kids entertained to ensure that this is the ideal family outing.
There will also be a beer garden to ensure that thirsts are quenched. R50000 worth of prizes will be given away, with one lucky racegoer set to walk away with a grand prize of R20000 worth of home appliances.
There are also a number of options for those looking to take full advantage of the hospitality, with packages starting from R250 in the Somerset Room and topped by the all-inclusive Seafood Extravaganza, at R1450 per person, in the Kenilworth Room.
General access to Kenilworth Racecourse on the day is R30 for adults, which earns an automatic entry into the lucky draw, and Under-18s get in for just R10.
