True to tradition, GrandWest’s restaurants will be presenting sumptuous festive spreads on Christmas Day, offering friends and families enticing alternatives to preparing feasts at home.
“There is no need to spend the day cooking in the kitchen when many of our restaurants will be open and offering festive buffets or menus on Christmas Day,” says Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at GrandWest.
The Hussar Grill has created a four course feast that begins with a selection of homemade soups, followed by a choice between smoked salmon Carpaccio, deep fried calamari or Greek salad for the second course. For the third course, diners must choose between 300g rump / sirloin steak, 400g succulent lamb cutlets, 300g fillet steak well aged and grilled to perfection, parmesan chicken breasts, grilled kingklip or deep fried calamari. The dessert choices include crème brûlée, baked cheesecake, malva pudding served with custard or ice cream, chocolate martini or ice cream and chocolate sauce. At Beijing Orchid, there is a colourful feast of Asian dishes as well as traditional fare on the buffet available between 12h00 and 15h00. Amongst these are vegetable spring rolls, Beijing salad, salt and pepper calamari, tempura prawns, mussels, roast turkey, lamb chops, black pepper beef, sweet and sour chicken, Thai chicken, beef short ribs, sushi and stir fired vegetables. For diners looking for exotic festive flavours, Bukhara is offering three set menus to choose from for tables larger than 10 people. The first menu option is the Maharaja which offers a three course menu at a cost of R595 per person and includes a starter of chicken tikka, chicken cheese, tandoori lamb chops, tandoori prawn, paneer tikka and garlic naan. The second course includes butter chicken, lamb korma, prawn curry, palak paneer, dal makhani, aloo jeera, kuchember, raita and basmati rice. Dessert is kulfi, mango ice cream and shahi tukara. The second menu option is the Maharani at R375 per person. The starter includes chicken tikka, lamb roti, tandoori mushroom and garlic naan. Main course is butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, palak paneer, dal makhani, aloo jeera, kuchumber, raita and basmati rice; all brought to an elegant close with a dessert of kulfi, mango ice cream and shahi tukara. The third menu option at R245 per head is the Rajkumar menu which comprises a main course of butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, palak paneer, dal makhani, aloo jeera, kuchumber, raita, basmati rice and garlic naan, finished off with mango ice cream and shahi tukara.
