If ever you needed an excuse to dress up and strut your stuff, this is it: the Summer of Champions will see the who’s who of South Africa’s social scene descend on Kenilworth Racecourse for a number of high-profile events, beginning on December 3.

The running of the World Sports Betting Fillies Guineas (Gr 1) ties in with the annual Ladies Day event and Racing. It’s A Rush saw fit to use this fixture as an ideal opportunity to announce the season to be well and truly in full swing.

The Summer of Champions includes a number of marquee race days, such as the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and the Sun Met, celebrated with GH Mumm and culminating at the end of January, supplemented by the appearance of some of South Africa’s finest thoroughbred talent.
As part of the Ladies Day initiative, Lymphoma SA, through their association with Campaign For Cancer, has been earmarked as a beneficiary for this event and will be able to raise much-needed funds.

Those monies will be raised through the auctioning of Second Chance, by Twice Over, and was kindly sponsored by Klawervlei Stud, while Glen Kotzen has generously offered to sponsor the horse’s racing career.
“It’s an exciting time for horseracing in South Africa and it’s only going to get better as the Summer of Champions intensifies,” says Jenna Potgieter, national brand manager for Racing. It’s A Rush.

“These events really offer so much from a lifestyle point of view as well. It’s a chance to get dressed up, enjoy the glamorous side of the sport of kings and an opportunity to rub shoulders and network with people across the social scene,” Potgieter added.
