South Africa, Nigerian and American comedians are to unite for the once off comedy showcase, ‘Heavyweights International Comedy’, at Carnival City’s Big Top on December 11.
The diverse ensemble of local and international headliners includes AY (Nigeria), Gina Yashere (US – Pictured), Thenjiwe (SA), Trevor Gumbi (SA) and supported by Tumi Stopnonsons (SA) and Nina Hastie (SA). All established comedians in their own right, each brings their own unique brand of comedy to the event, with the promise of huge laughs for all.
In the driver’s seat as host for the evening is Toll Ass Mo. Another draw card for the show, he is a Xhosa comedian straight out of Tembisa.
Like many comedians who have gone on to become household names in this country, Tall Ass Mo is a comedian from very humble beginnings. His material mainly comprises of stories of his childhood, as well his encapsulations and observations of the absurdities that come with living in modern day South Africa.
“These are top comedians that also came through the ranks over the years. Expect a side-splitting, laugh-a-minute showcase of Africa and America’s quirky humour,” says Matthew Cook, Events and Entertainment Manager at Carnival City.
‘Heavyweights International Comedy’ starts at 3pm, but doors will open early at 2pm.
Tickets cost R200 per person at Computicket, Shoprite, Checkers and House & Home.
