Cableway’s Sunset Special ends in two weeks

Cableway’s Sunset Special ends in two weeks

It’s hard to believe that in just two weeks, the Table Mountain Cableway’s 2016 Sunset Special will end.
Locals and visitors keen to take in the awe-inspiring sunset views of the Mother City should book their tickets online at www.tablemountain.net soon.

A favourite with Capetonians, this one-of-a-kind experience sees Cableway visitors enjoy a five-minute scenic trip in the state-of-the-art cable cars to the summit of Table Mountain, the 7 Wonder of Nature and the recent Best Attraction winner of the inaugural CheapFlights Travel Awards.
Once at the top, the Cableway invites you to enjoy a meal with a view at the Table Mountain Café; indulge in a spot of retail therapy in the clouds at the Shop at the Top; and share your experiences with your friends and family online at the Wi-Fi Lounge.

Keen to join the Cableway for the amazing Sunset Special? Here are few tips to make the most of your visit:

• For your convenience, buy your half-price Sunset Special tickets online at www.tablemountain.net. Not only is having tickets in hand more convenient, it also allows you to bypass the Ticket Office queue.

• Pack right. Remember your walking shoes, sun lotion, sunglasses, a warm jacket (just in case) and, most importantly, your camera.

• Visit the Cableway website, call the weatherline at 021 424 8181 or follow @TableMountainCA on Twitter to find out if the Cableway is open, what queuing times are like and the weather at the top.

• There is FREE WiFi at the Lower Cable Station. You can use this to download free Table Mountain Cableway audio tours via the Voicemap app (available from the Apple or Google Play stores). Once downloaded, these tours run offline. They’ll provide you with in-queue entertainment at the bottom and enable you to explore the top of the mountain at your leisure

• Weather conditions at the Lower and Upper Cable Stations can vary considerably. Longer queues can be expected if the Cableway is closed for a few days in a row due to adverse weather conditions.

Leave the car keys and take a free ride to Table Mountain

With summer on our doorstop and visitor numbers sure to reach new heights, locals are encouraged to ditch their cars and hop on board the free park and ride service via the MyCiTi shuttle to the Cableway’s Upper Tafelberg Road stop. Sounds simple enough, but “How do we use this shuttle?” you could be forgiven for asking. Well, here’s how, in two easy steps:

If you’re coming by car:
• Park your car at the Lower Tafelberg Road parking lot.
• Hop on board the 110 MyCiTi shuttle at the Lower Tafelberg Road stop.

If you’re coming by public transport:
• Disembark your bus or taxi at Kloof Nek Road and walk up the slight incline to the next bus stop.
• Hop on board the 110 MyCiTi shuttle at the Lower Tafelberg Road stop.
And, just like that, you’re on your way to the Cableway for your Table Mountain experience.

Important things to note:
• You do not need a MyCiTi myconnect card to use our free 110 MyCiTi shuttle to the top. Table Mountain Cableway is sponsoring your ride, so there is no need for a MyCiTi bus ticket.
• The shuttle operates daily from 7am in summer (7.30am in winter) from Kloof Nek, with the last shuttle departing the Lower Cable Station at 7pm in summer (6.45pm in winter). Buses depart every 20 minutes.
• This free service is for the 110 MyCiTi shuttle ride only and does not apply to the cable car ticket.
Keen to make your Cableway experience even simpler? Remember to pre-book your tickets online and you’ll cut down on queuing time, too.
The Cableway operates weather permitting.
