It’s that time of the year again where locals look forward to ending off the weekends with friends and family, picnic baskets and blankets in hand to enjoy the floral heritage and the mountain of Kirstenbosch Gardens, not to mention some of the choicest local sounds.
The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts resumes from Sunday, November 20, through to Sunday, April 2, 2017 with a line-up that promises something for almost everyone.
The 2016/17 season is a celebration of 25 years of memorable concerts. Back by popular demand are: Jimmy Nevis this weekend, Sunday, November 20; with the likes of Mango Groove, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Mi Casa, The Soil, Cape Town Folk ‘n Acoustic Music Festival, Goldfish, The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Zonke, Lira, Jeremy Loops, Dan Patlansky, The Soil and Just Jinger to follow.
There are some interesting duos in the mix, including the Parlotones’ Khan, who will be on stage with Richard Stirton – the 2016 winner of the ‘Voice South Africa’. Who can forget the moment when Stirton had all four judges turn their chairs around and do their absolute best to convince him to choose them as his coach? But Stirton followed his heart and chose Khan to be his mentor, and at their concert the audience will experience the result.
Beatenberg and Opposite The Other will share the stage; as will Johnny Clegg and Slow Jack, Matthew Mole and Jesse Clegg, Karen Zoid and Francois van Coke, Shortstraw and Al Bairre, and sibling duo Bobby & Karlien van Jaarsveld.
Ticket prices range between R125 and R190 for adults. The special Youth Ticket (6-21 yrs) will also be retained (ranging from R90 to R150).
