Nurture a new hobby at Fiddlewood Pottery Studio

Fiddlewood Pottery Studio in Harfield Village was established in 1985. They have created a wide range of products whilst specializing in teaching the age old craft of ceramics.
At the studio they teach both hand work and wheel work. Students are initially taught hand work to introduce them to the techniques of clay, which involve pinch pots, slabbing and coiling. Having gained this initial knowledge of how clay can be worked, those who feel ready for the challenge of the potter’s wheel can do so under guidance.
Each student is allocated their own shelf space for storage of their work. After the drying and bisque firing stage (first firing) comes the exciting stage of painting and decorating to their own artistic ability, before the final glaze firing. Courses offered range from one month, to three months and even six months, after which students often choose to stay on.
