Col’Cacchio pizzeria launches New Summer Menu & 2016/17 Celeb Chef Series

Yesterday, November 8 Col’Cacchio pizzeria launched its new tantalising Summer Menu as well as the 2016/17 edition of its popular Celebrity Chef Series which features delicious gourmet pizzas’ from distinguished celebrity chefs: Zola Nene who is SABC3 Expresso Show Chef and stylist, Neill Anthony a talented young private chef who has his own 13-Part TV Series “Private Chef” and Claire Allen who is the Previous Master Chef finalist. The new menu boasts an array of scrumptious items from delicious gourmet pizzas’ to spicy new salads and a fun spin-off Mac and Cheese bound to keep the kids coming back for more.

The event was held outside at the back of the restaurant, with a table of beverages by the entrance. Quite an extensive number of people attended.  We spent close to an hour socialising before the event started. A formal welcome accompanied by the proceedings of the day took place. The Celebrity chefs were called on stage to take us through their creations and inspiration behind them. We were served the kid’s meal to taste first, the Cheesy Spag Spiders: Chicken cheese sausage threaded with spaghetti, pomodoro sauce, cheesy béchamel sauce, bread crumbs, Italian parmesan, it was truly for the kids because it lacked salt for me.

The time arrived to taste the delectable line up of signature pizza creations, including:
•    Zola Nene’s Don Salsa, a tomato base, pulled BBQ chicken pizza drenched in mozzarella, smoked mozzarella with corn and a fresh avocado salsa topped with TABASCO® Chipotle Sauce
•    Neill Anthony’s The Private Chef, a crème fraîche & spinach base, mozzarella with a marinated Asian chicken topped with a truffle infused Asian mayonnaise, crispy leeks, basil and Italian parmesan shavings
•    Claire Allen’s The Phat Cat, an authentic play on lasagna; beef bolognaise with a creamy béchamel sauce topped with mozzarella.

The pizza’s didn’t disappoint, I enjoyed all three. Although most people were split between two chefs others being team Anthony and the rest team Nene.
Funds raised through the 2016/17 campaign will be donated to the Children’s Hospital Trust, fundraiser for the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital, which treats children from around the country as well as kids from all over Africa.
The new Summer menu as well as the all-new 2016/17 Celebrity Chef Series pizzas will be available at all stores across South Africa from November 2016.
