Avid orchid fans are in for a treat in November when these stunning plants are put in the spotlight at the Natal Orchid Society’s annual Spring Orchid Show.
Orchid enthusiasts need to diarise Saturday, November 5 (from 10.15am to 4pm) and Sunday, November 6 (from 9am to 3pm), to view the display at the Parkhill Bowling Club, off Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Durban North.
All orchid lovers and keen gardeners are invited to visit the show where oncidiums, cattleyas, dendrobiums, vandas, plus many more, will be on display.
Potting demonstrations will be held on both days and a wide variety of orchid plants will be on sale – for those who want to add to (or start) their own collection. A raffle will also be held with a number of orchid plants as prizes.
Light lunches and refreshments will be sold in the tea garden. Entrance fee is R15 for adults and R10 for pensioners.
*Existing orchid-growers – and anyone interested in owning and nurturing these beautiful plants – are invited to attend the monthly meetings of the Natal Orchid Society. These are held at the Parkhill Bowling Club on the second Monday of every month at 6:30pm.
