Roxy Revue Bar to resound with the sounds of the 60s

Fans of the psychedelic music and fashion of the 1960s can watch the sights and sounds of that colourful era come to life when ‘Shout! The Mod Musical’ takes to the stage at the beginning of November at the Roxy Revue Bar, GrandWest.

The humorous, foot tapping musical journey will relive the changing attitudes of the time with well loved and nostalgic hits by such greats as Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and Dusty Springfield. Hits to be featured in the show include ‘Downtown’, ‘You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me’, ‘Son of a Preacher Man’, ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Don’t Sleep in the Subway’ and many more.

The musical, by Phillip George and David Lowenstein, is directed by Garth Tavares for Pinelands Players and will star an all female cast. Tavares previously directed ‘Shout!’ in 2012, which was sold out and garnered five Cape Amateur Theatre Awards (CATA), including Best Musical and Best Director of a Musical. The Best Actress in a Musical Award was shared by the five performers.

‘Shout! The Mod Musical’ will include the musical talents of Laura Bosman, Melissa Sanderson, Christine Thonissen, Enyha Swanepoel and Megan Spencer. From miniskirts and go-go boots to lonely hearts and complicated relationships, the show promises “entertainment that will leave audiences shouting for more.’
“A great cast of local performers, an entertaining storyline, authentic costumes and hip swaying music make Shout! The Mod Musical a show not to be missed. The Roxy Revue Bar is ready to resound with the vibrant music of the 1960s,” says Elouise Matthys, PR and Promotions Manager at Grand West.

‘Shout! The Mod Musical’ runs at the Roxy Revue Bar from November 4 to 26.
Performances are on Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 5pm. Tickets are R120 per person and can be booked at Computicket.
