In celebration of their 10 year anniversary, Cascade Country Manor will be hosting an exclusive music concert – featuring one of South Africa’s much-loved artists, Majozi – on Saturday, October 29.
Situated in the picturesque Paarl-Wellington Valley, Cascade Country Manor and Spa offers the ideal setting to enjoy an evening under the stars. Guests are invited to sit back, drink in the natural beauty of the Cape Winelands and indulge in delicious fare while listening to a live performance of the talent behind famous hits ‘Darling’, ‘Fire’ and ‘The Greatest Love’.
The Next 48hOURS caught up with Majozi on the eve of the concert:
Name one thing that if you could, you’d change about the local music scene.
I’d like less privileged people musicians to have access to quality recording opportunities.
The most perfect live performance you can recall seeing…
The Lumineers Live in Emmarentia. I pretty much had goose bumps the whole time, and even though there was like 15000 people there, they still somehow managed to keep it intimate and really special. Locally it has to be aKING at Oppi in 2014. They’ve been a long time favourite of mine and that set has been engraved into my memory as one of the most amazing I’ve ever experienced.
Name your top five desert island discs.
Chance the rapper – ‘Coloring Book’
Gangs of Ballet – ‘Yes/No/Grey’
The Lumineers – ‘The Lumineers’
Alabama Shakes – ‘Sound & Color’
He Is Legend – ‘I am Hollywood’
The most nervous you’ve ever been on stage…
I get nervous a lot. At last year’s Daisies I was so nervous that I started a song about 100bpm too slow. We laughed about it afterwards, but yes, I was pretty scared.
Finally, three words you feel describe you best as a performer…
Fun, quirky, different.
Gates open at 4pm, with Majozi performing at 7pm.
Tickets are R165 from Computicket. Platters can be pre-ordered at an additional cost and a variety of other food and beverages will be on sale on the night.
