Some of South Africa’s top chefs and food personalities will be appearing at the Good Food & Wine Show, which will once again be taking place at the Durban Exhibition Centre, from Friday to Sunday, October 28 to 30. The event promises to be bang on trend with food and cooking fashions.
The theme for this year’s new-look Durban show is “Fresh” and is all about one of the biggest current food trends. Increasingly people want to eat fresh seasonal produce and they want to know where it comes from.
The stellar line-up includes ‘MasterChef Australia’ judge George Calombaris, Siba Mtongana, Jenny Morris, Sarah Graham, Siphokazi Mdlankomo, Neill Anthony and J’Something.
Calombaris may be recognisable around the globe thanks to his TV work, but there is more to this likeable chef, who owns a number of award winning restaurants. “I am thrilled to be coming to Durban. There are going to be a few little surprises during the demonstrations and I am going to ‘play’ with people’s senses. It’s also an opportunity for people to come and meet me and get a good idea of who I am and why food has played such a major part in my life,” says the food celebrity.
However, there is more than just one MasterChef at this year’s show. Aside from J’Something, ‘MasterChef South Africa’ winner Kamini Pather will appear with fellow show contestants Siphokazi Mdlankomo and Claire Allen.
The Durban Good Food & Wine Show offers more value-for-money than ever before with a host of theatres offering entertaining programmes in which the chefs cook up a storm, included free in the ticket price. It’s on a first come, first served basis. Parents will be delighted to hear of a brand new and exciting initiative that is being launched at the show – for the first time in South Africa.
