The Cousin is evolving with the times

South Africa’s elastic faced, king of clean comedy, Barry Hilton, is bringing his latest humorous creation, ‘Evolver’, to Café Roux in Noordhoek, on Friday, October 21, at 8.30pm. (Dinner from 7pm.)
Fans can brace for comedy in true Hilton style. ‘Evolver’ promises to showcase the funnyman at his vibrant best, with Hilton presenting his brand new material.
After 30 years of touring, six children, two ex-wives, a new wife, six DVDs, two movies, Vegas, Cleese, Connolly, Monkhouse, millions of air miles and a Lifetime Achiever statue on his mantelpiece, Hilton is undoubtedly a quintessentially South African comedy giant.
“The Cousin” has performed on five of the seven continents. Earlier this year, he sold out the main concert hall of the internationally renowned Sydney Opera House. He performs regularly in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and of course across Africa.

An unusual marriage proposal

‘Jack & Jane’, showing at the Galloway Theatre in Cape Town from October 27 to 29 at 8pm nightly, tells the story of a young married couple. Jack meets Jane at an art gallery and there’s instant chemistry – well according to Jack at least. They go on a few dates when Jack eventually proposes. But what he proposes is more than just a wedding.
With divorce rates at an all-time high, Jack offers her a new deal. A new kind of marriage; a new way of doing things; a different kind of love.
But how successful will this “new deal” be? And is this new deal really a better deal?
Written and directed by Terence Makapan, the play stars Ally White and Llewellyn vd Berg.
