Vergenoegd Wine Estate in Stellenbosch hosts its weekly Family Market throughout the year.
Set on the picturesque estate with its idyllic green lawns, the Market@Vergenoegd is held every Saturday of the month, featuring arts and crafts; a variety of food, wine, oysters and bubbly; interior and home-improvement goods; jewellery; live entertainment and kids entertainment.
Situated between Cape Town, Stellenbosch and Somerset West, just off the N2, Vergenoegd, the first (or last) stop on the Stellenbosch Wine Route, is an idyllic Saturday Market venue for the whole family to relax and enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of city. Ample parking space is available at this pet-friendly Market.
Saturday mornings kick off at 9am with the Vergenoegd family breakfast run or walk. A light bite will be available to order after the run, whilst relaxing and enjoying the famous 1000-strong Duck Parade at 10am.
The flock of Runner Ducks have become somewhat of a Stellenbosch Wine Route “must see” – gaining global popularity amongst both local and international visitors, owing to their online and broadcast boom. Vergenoegd’s feathery friends are considered part of the workforce at the wine estate and after their morning parade they head off into the vineyards to eat bugs and pests, massively reducing the estate’s requirements for pesticides.
Since a change of ownership in 2015, Vergenoegd Wine Estate has seen a revival of the estate and the grand old Manor House. The organisers have also introduced unique experiences at the farm to offer entertainment for the whole family, which has proven popular with visitors.
