Joburg Theatre has a Spring in their step with rags-to-riches ballet

A dazzling night, a glittering ball…something wonderful is sure to happen when the ultimate fairytale – Joburg Ballet’s production of ‘Cinderella’ – returns to Joburg Theatre for just ten performances, from Friday, September 30, to Sunday, October 9.

Choreographed by Joburg Ballet’s artistic director Iain MacDonald and given its world premiere in 2013, ‘Cinderella’ waltzes across the stage with Johann Strauss’s champagne-infused melodies providing the musical setting for this ultimate rags-to-riches tale. Andrew Botha’s designs frame the action and the full company lights up the theatre in the family-friendly production.
“Cinderella has always been one of the company’s most popular ballets,” says MacDonald. “Strauss composed some of the most enchanting, best loved and memorable classical music ever written and ‘Cinderella’, his only ballet score, is no exception. In October we’ll be moving into summer and Christmas will be just around the corner, making ‘Cinderella’ the perfect ballet for the run up to the holiday season.”

* Booking is open via Joburg Theatre box office on 0861 670 670; or online at http://www.webtickets.co.za/events/featured/cinderella-the-ballet/1461792621.
