This year’s iteration will showcase twelve of the world’s best teams, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid and offers fans the first opportunity to experience ‘The Journey’ – a new cinematic story style mode.
For the first time ever in the FIFA franchise, players will have a chance to live their story on and off the pitch as the character Alex Hunter, a rising star in the Premier League. You can now play select experiences as a member of Manchester United, one of the world’s elite clubs.
Fans looking for an opportunity to hit the pitch with some of their favorite squads can jump into a Kick-Off match with Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid C.F., Juventus, Inter, Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique Lyonnais, Seattle Sounders, FC Bayern Munchen, Club Tigres UNAL or Gamba Osaka. Players can also choose from world-class stadiums including Century Link Field, Stamford Bridge and the newly added J1 League ground, Suita City Football Stadium. While matches are loading, fans can check out some new skill games to hone their abilities before diving into the action.
‘Fifa 17’ is the next level for the game franchise and you get to experience transformative gameplay, with new features like Set Piece Rewrite, Physical Play Overhaul and New Attacking Techniques. All of us techies have come across ‘MSI’ sometime in our computer buying lives and the brand is well known for pushing the boundaries in technology and innovation. Last year we saw them bring out powerful laptops that featured the next generation in graphics cards, and this year is no different. The latest offering from MSI is called the ‘Vortex G65 6QF’. It stands upright, resembling the size of a small office waste basket, but inside it is crammed with computing power that will have any PC enthusiast drooling. MSI have spared no expense: powering this unit is an i7-6700K processor, dual GeForce GTX 980’s, 32 Gigabytes of RAM and a terabyte of storage space. We took it out for a test drive recently to see what it can do. It ran ‘GTA 5’ on max settings at a resolution of 1920×1080 and ‘Battlefield 4’ with the same specifications.
On drawing packages like Solidworks and Inventor, it was particularly nimble. It really is a bit of a mental machine so we went in search of why they made it exactly and found that MSI is focusing on the future of Virtual Reality. This PC was specifically made with VR in mind, as it’s small enough to sit on a table, similar to a console, and will run top headsets like the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift. The price you ask? This one will come in at just under R90000, whereas we found a more powerful PC for under R50000 (www.evetech.co.za). The verdict is that if you have the cash to drop on this PC and take the plunge into VR now, then this is for you. However we would wait for this technology to filter down into the greater pool of MSI notebooks and to be honest, you can find the same computing power for less.
