One of SA’s biggest up-and-coming comedy stars is bringing his one-man show, ‘Second Language’, to Durban. You may have seen Schalk Bezuidenhout on TV: he’s had his own Comedy Central Special, and more recently starred in ‘White Christmas’ Comedy Special (aired on Mnet, DSTV BoxOffice).
He was Trevor Noah’s opening act for no less than five weeks at the Teatro in 2015 and is also a Comics’ Choice Award 2015 recipient. He will entertain Durban on Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, at 8pm, at the Durban Jewish Club (DJC) – 44 K E Masinga Rd, North Beach.
You may even have seen him tearing up the Durban Club Comedy scene recently.
Now, after a completely sold out run in Cape Town, this Afrikaans boy brings his highly anticipated debut one-man comedy show to Durban.
Coming from a community where your mother’s breast milk would be brannewyn en coke, you’d walk kaalvoet to school, and hide your lunch money when a black man walked past, Schalk explains how he perceives the world through his boerewors spectacles.
Described by comedy reviewer, Helen Herimbi, as “a comedian with unique material and delivery, who stands out in a sea of stand-up comedians”, this show from one of SA’s hottest rising comedy stars promises to have you in stitches.
