Youth Jazz Festival

This event accommodates the exceptional talent of young jazz musicians. The project spans over 10 weeks and includes a mentorship programme with the aim of getting youths to be apart of the festival. The focus remains the continuous skills development within the genre of jazz, to foster the investment of cultural democratization of South Africa.  Mentors include: Camillo Lombard (Piano), Frank Paco (Drums), Wesley Rustin (Bass) and Marc De Kock (Saxophone). 50% of ticket proceeds will go towards the Western Cape Rehabilitation Centre.

At 40 years, Blacksmith is “Cape Town’s oldest boy band”.  Often accompanied by The Jameses – James Harvey and James Hall – who are fast gaining a reputation in their own right, Blacksmith perform in many genres including bluegrass, country, gospel, English, Irish and Scottish Traditional, a capella rap, modern and ancient pop, rock and boeremusiek. Blacksmith perform regularly at the Alma Cafe and tickets sell fast.
