Ripley’s Believe It or Not! returns to these shores

The spectacular and odd world of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is returning to South Africa for the first time since Robert Ripley himself traveled the continent more than 80 years ago.
Ripley’s legendary compendium of oddities, anomalies and fantastic feats can be seen at Galleria Arbour Town from June 3 to 26.

Galleria Mall shoppers and Ripley’s Believe it or Not! enthusiasts can look forward to more than 140 artifacts displayed in distinctively designed themed areas. The exhibition is built with 18 separate and individually themed display pods. Each pod contains artifacts, digital interactives, and graphic elements unique to the subject matter covered.

“In 1933, Mr. Ripley undertook one of his longest trips from Cairo to South Africa. It was a two-month trip, highly publicised, where people flocked to him with their oddities. Ripley’s is looking forward to bringing our brand back to South Africa and its people, in the form of a travelling show at South African malls, filled with over 100 oddities from the Ripley collection, including five original pen and ink cartoon panels, drawn by Ripley on location in Africa, in the 1930’s,” says Edward Meyer, Vice President Archives & Exhibits, Ripley Entertainment Inc.
The collection covers everything from history, to zoology, to geography, art, sports, politics, celebrities, dinosaurs and even outer space. The exhibition is free and open to the public as per the trading hours of the mall.
