One of SA’s premier divas celebrates her 60th with new show

Legendary songstress Amanda Strydom is celebrating her 60th birthday and 37 years in the entertainment industry with a new show, ‘’n Rugsak vol Robyne’ (A Rucksack full of Rubies). Strydom will perform the show for three performances only in Cape Town at Die Boer Restaurant Theatre in Durbanville on June 10 and 11at 8.30pm; and Sunday, June 12, at 1.30pm
‘’n Rugsak vol Robyne’ opened to sold out houses at the recent Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees and received high critical acclaim.

The Afrikaans diva sings songs from her vast self-penned repertoire, as well as old favourites in French, English and Dutch. She weaves the songs with poetry and stories, with a healthy mix of comedy and pathos thrown in.
Strydom was awarded the Medal Of Honor by the Academy of Arts and Science in 2012 for her contribution to Afrikaans music. This year she won the Fiësta award for best performance in a music driven production for her previous show, ‘Die Hele Boksemdaais’ (The Whole Shebang).
Strydom is accompanied by the talented pianist, Coenraad Rall.
