Musical time machine to the decade of MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice in Rivonia

The nineties is considered by some as the last great decade in music history. ‘90’s Mania’ is a celebration of this cool decade filled with a variety of pop, rock, alternative, old school and a collection of one-hit wonders. Be a part of the nostalgia taking place at The Barnyard Theatre Rivonia, from June 2 to July 10.

Featuring an 11-piece cast of singers, dancers and musicians, ‘90s Mania’ offers audiences a blast from the past where music lovers saw an emergence of new bands such as Oasis, Nirvana, Counting Crows, Live, The Cranberries and many more. The period also saw the emergence of a new selection of rock and pop divas, including the likes of Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and new male rockers including Robbie Williams, Lenny Kravitz and Jamiroquai. The early hip-hop scene achieved popularity with MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice, whilst the boy and all girl groups emerged with a vengeance towards the end of the nineties, with names such as The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and NSYNC capturing the attention of teenagers and dominating the pop charts.

Old school rock also made its mark with groups such as R.E.M., Bon Jovi, Mike and The Mechanics, Roxette, U2 and UB40, whilst country music was represented by mega stars including Garth Brooks and Shania Twain, making the nineties the decade with the most variety when it comes to music choice.
‘90s Mania’ will set forth to bring back memories of the songs and parties of the era. It promises to be the ultimate nineties party.
