The 17th Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, the country’s outstanding documentary showcase, will for the next 10 days – from Thursday, June 2, to June 12 – feature over 101 screenings of 42 films in four cinemas…in two cities…to 1000s of people. The Jozi leg of Encounters will be taking place at Cinema Nouveau Rosebank.
Driven by the love of documentaries the Encounters Team, a collective of passionate staff and volunteers, will present cineastes with a banquet of documentary highlights from Mzansi and abroad.
There will be Q&A’s after certain screenings, as well as Panel Discussions, Master Classes and Industry events.
Among the guests for this year’s Festival are Emmy Award-winning Francois Verster and Tribeca award-winner Camilla Nielsson, who will both conduct Master Classes; and panelists Odette Geldenhuys, producer of the award-winning ‘The Shore Break’, and Dr. Tim Noakes, tackling ‘That Sugar Film’.
* Entry to films is R50.
