The 2016 Stellenbosch Wine Festival presented by Pick n Pay offers the unique opportunity to experience some of the country’s finest food and wines – all in one place. The Festival will be taking place over three days from February 5 to 7, in a glorious setting at the Coetzenburg Sports Grounds and promises to be the best yet, with close on 90 wineries participating.
This year’s performance calendar features some of the top musical acts in South Africa, including a once-off performance by Karen Zoid and Kurt Darren, girl band BlackByrd (picture) and the inimitable Ard Matthews of Just Jinger.
The chart-topping Zoid, who is currently starring in ‘The Voice South Africa’, will be collaborating with Darren in a genre combination of rock `n roll and pop. These talented songwriters will add a new twist to popular hit songs on Friday at 7.30pm.
A jam-packed entertainment schedule on Saturday includes songbird Luna Paige (11.30am) and the duet Twee (2.30pm) with BlackByrd as the headline act (4.30pm). Enjoy a laid-back Sunday with music by Don Veno & Friends (12pm), singing sensation Paige Mac (1.30pm) and Ard Matthews at 3.30pm.
Outdoor enthusiasts can participate in a host of fun activities in the Grape Stomping Ground, including barrel rolling and grape stomping. Explore the natural beauty of Stellenbosch during
Sunday’s Momentum Grape MTB ride, a leisurely 17km ride suitable for the whole family through the scenic Jonkershoek Valley.
The Gourmet Lane promises to be a veritable feast with local restaurants going all out to impress with their signature dishes. Younger visitors have not been forgotten as the Flavours of Pick n Pay will offer a range of boerewors rolls, wraps, beef mince vetkoek, chicken skewers and a selection of salads. Soft drinks and snacks will also be available. For extra peace of mind for parents, Momentum Health will have a supervised dedicated Kiddies Area where the little ones will be entertained and taken care of throughout the day, while parents relax and enjoy all that’s on offer.
