International prizes on offer at L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate for Best Dressed Competition

A trip to London, including luxury accommodation and VIP tickets to Glorious Goodwood, is on the cards for the Best Dressed Lady at the 155th L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, taking place at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town on 9 January 2016.

Held in August 2016, the Glorious Goodwood festival is hailed as one of the world’s most famous racing events and the Best Dressed Lady and a partner will be jetted off to the UK to attend the event, proving that the LQP is as much a celebration of fashion and elegance as it is of Cape Town’s rich horse racing heritage.

In addition, LQP has partnered with internationally-acclaimed luxury French brand Cartier who will present the Best Dressed Lady with a Cartier Bag, while the Best Dressed Man will win a Cartier wallet.
There are equally splendid prizes for second and third place in all Best Dressed Categories.

Last year’s Best Dressed Lady, Deborah Calmeyer – who stunned the judges in a Roland Mouret dress paired with a hat by Philip Treacy – will also serve as a judge at LQP 2016 along with internationally-renowned brother & sister fashion design duo Errol and Gloria Arendz; designer of luxury Okapi handbags, Hanneli Rupert; and style icon and official LQP spokesperson Bonang Matheba. In keeping with LQP’s proud heritage, the 2016 panel of judges will keep an eye open for locally-designed outfits.
“LQP is the absolute height of summer social occasions and the pinnacle of style and grace. It’s a day of high fashion and fun where guests can unleash their inner cover mode, as long as they stick to the theme of blue and white!” says Bonang Matheba.

Adds Errol Arendz: “LQP is an event that celebrates the grace and refinement that historically accompanies race days of such international renown, and the winning outfits will be a reflection of that heritage. We, as judges, are looking for sophistication and classic charm, but with a personal touch to keep things exciting.”

Along with its stylish course-side marquees and entertainment, LQP 2016 is set to once again be an exhilarating day of horse racing with the 12-race card pitting South Africa’s finest thoroughbreds up against each other as they pursue the trophy and R1 million purse.

Note: Only ladies wearing hats or fascinators will be eligible for the Best Dressed Lady title. Only guests wearing blue and white are eligible to win.
