Early bird special for oldest horse race in the country

South Africa’s longest standing horse race and Cape Town’s largest annual outdoor social event is coming to Kenilworth racecourse on Saturday, January 30.
The 2016 J&B Met was officially launched last week at Kenilworth Racecourse, providing guests with a sneak peek of what’s to come on January 30.
This event has been attracting different South Africans who come together to celebrate the best of fashion, music, food and horse racing since 1977. Celebrating their 39th year as event sponsor, what started off as a small sponsorship for J&B is now South Africa’s longest running sports sponsorship and the race itself is now the oldest horse race in the country.

In honour of the brand, its unique heritage and its valued legacy, the theme for the 2016 J&B Met is “A Rare Blend”. Those attending next year’s event will be challenged to incorporate A Rare Blend into how they dress on the day. Think different styles, textures or ideas and how you can bring these together to great effect.
Due to its popularity at this year’s event, the “Racing. It’s a Rush Public Village” will be back in 2016, giving racing fans an opportunity to not only get the best view of the horse racing, but also the front row to some phenomenal entertainment thanks to the “Schweppes Gig Rig in association with Goodhope FM”.

MC’s for the night include Funny man Kurt Schoonraad (pictured), and Goodhope FM Presenters DJ Loyd , Dalin Oliver and Carissa Cupido. The full talent line-up includes: Crazy White Boy Live, Jimmy Nevis, The Kiffness, DJ Reddy D, Kurt Schoonraad and some of Cape Town’s finest DJ’s – Sox, Dean Fuel, Strange Lovers, Brett Aitken, Kanan K7 & Larkin.
Also available to “Racing. It’s a Rush Public Village” ticket holders will be a food village, bars and ample space to sit and relax.
More than 50000 race-goers are expected to attend what promises to be a bigger and better J&B™ Met than ever before.

* Don’t miss the early bird special – Book a ticket before the 9 December and get your second ticket free.
General entry tickets into The J&B Met Public Village are priced at R125 and are available through www.jbscotch.co.za or Computicket as well as designated tote outlets throughout the country; or you can call Kenilworth Race Course on 021 7001600.
