Capetonians, prepare yourselves for barrels of fun, beer, food and toe-tapping entertainment – Tops At Spar Bierfest is back.
Now in its fifth year, SA’s ultimate ‘brewhaha’ and celebration of all things frosty, frothy and fun-loving will get the party started at Newlands Brewery, Village Green from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8, with the chance to book via the official website, for the following sessions:
• Friday, November 6 – 6pm to 11pm
• Saturday, November 7 – 11am to 4pm, or 6pm to 11pm
• Sunday, November 8 – 12pm to 5pm
Bierfest will be hosted inside a 4000-seater Bavarian Brauhaus festooned with festival décor direct from München. Modeled on the much-loved Munich Oktoberfest, the ever-popular event will once again serve up it’s unique ‘celebration of the suds’, recreating the revelry, tradition and, of course, the tastes of this epic annual German celebration.
Fetching frauleins in dirndl skirts will greet guests with a smile; a live oompah band will blow the blues away and deliver plenty of first ‘klaus’ fun as revelers raise their stein glasses to the start of another year’s fabulous festival of bier.
Hosted by The ‘Mayor of Munich’, local comedian and actor Brendan Murray, this year’s Bierfest activities include the ‘Tapping of the Keg’, ‘Best-Dressed,’ and ‘Mass-Heben’ (stein lifting) – all set to the stonking tunes of party band, Me and Mr. Brown.
