Extreme Festival Racing returns to Killarney

Saturday, October 24, sees the second of the two Extreme Festival Race Meetings being held at Killarney.  The Program includes Engen VW Cup, Formula Ford Duratec, Thunderbikes, National Production Cars and Kawasaki Masters.

Supporting the National Classes, the Crossley & Webb Sports & GT Section with an entry of 25 cars promises to thrill the Spectators with a variety of spectacular and very fast Machines.

In Class A there is a mixed bunch. Francis Carruthers (Juno S53) has the quickest lap time, but hot on his heels is Dawie Joubert  (Lotus Exige Honda), Johan Engelbrecht (Porsche GT2R) and Steve Humble (Opel Mallock). Craig Jarvis’ Dodge Viper and Charl Arangies’ Lamborghini Gallardo have not yet raced in the Sports & GT Category so it remains to be seen how they shape up to the other Class A cars.

Class B is an all-Porsche affair with Gary Kieswetter (GT3RS), Matt Kreeve (GT3 Cup), Keith Fourie (GT3 3.6L), Andre Brink (GT3 Cup) and Nicky Dicks (Porsche GT3 Cup) battling it out.

Class C has Louis de Jager (Lola 212 Toyota), Eric Salomon (Elf Toyota), Maarten Prins (Porsche GT3 Cup), Clinton Thorne (Birkin Toyota), Mike Beachy-Head (Porsche 917 Replica) and Paul Beachy-Head in the Audi R8.

In Class D we have Martin Pugh (Lola 212 VW), Godfrey Lancellas  (Lola 212 Toyota), Marcus Henkel (BirkinToyota), Paul Schwartz (GT40), Sean McCarthy (Porsche GT3) Divan Wentzel (Porsche 944) and Hennie Bosman in the big Chev Corvette making a comeback after a long absence.

Egmont Baumgartner has entered his Nardini VW in Class X after a very long absence, and he will be re-classified after the Qualifying Session.

Qualifying starts at 8am and the first Race is at 10.40am, so get there early to get the best spectator spot.
