‘Defending the Caveman’ – the longest-running and most successful solo comedy show in South African theatre history – is for the first time coming to the West Rand. In partnership with Joe Parker and Silverstar Casino, the Caveman will be appearing on Sundays for the next two months at Parkers Comedy and Jive, starting on September 13.
‘Defending the Caveman’ still holds the record of the longest running non- musical solo comedy of all time on Broadway. What more can be said about this show that humorously exposes the hunter and gatherer in us all and has played to over a million people? Penned by Rob Becker, Tim Plewman adapted the script for Southern Africa and went on to win the Vita Award for Best Actor in a comedy.
Updated, upgraded and uploadable to today’s world of tweets, selfies and six million Facebook friends, this production is still an affectionate comedy that explains why men and women see the world so differently.
Plewman picked up the performance mantle again this year after Alan Committie steered the franchise for a couple of years – so West Rand audiences get to see the original Caveman back in all his glory.
* The starts at 2.30pm.
Tickets at R150 per person can be booked at Computicket.
