Belgian songstress, Dana Winner has a message of hope to share with her fans when she takes to the stage at the Grand Arena, GrandWest on Saturday, September 12. Bringing to life songs from her latest album, ‘Bloom’, Winner is set to perform a few songs in Afrikaans for her local followers.
One of these includes, ‘Lied van Hoop’ which Winner has dedicated to South Africa. The song entices listeners to believe that even in the middle of conflict and hardship, there is always hope. This message, according to her agent, Hugo Foets, is one that Winner wants to share with the people of South Africa.
In addition to ‘Lied van Hoop’, local fans can look forward to seeing the artist perform two other Afrikaans songs, also included on the new album, at the concert. These are ‘As Jy My Aanraak’ and ‘As Jy My Kon Verstaan’. She will also showcase her versatility, singing songs in English, Dutch, French and German.
Winner made her breakthrough in 1989 with her rendition of The Carpenters’ ‘Top of the World’. Since then she had spread her wings and reached significant heights: scores of gold and platinum albums as well as multiple number one hits. In South Africa, Winner had massive success with songs such like ‘In Love with You’, ‘Let the Children Have A World’ and ‘Sproetjies’.
Concertgoers can expect an audio-visual spectacular, complete with an orchestra and other surprises.
