Based on the success of their ‘Antiques & Artefacts’ launch, internationally acclaimed rock band, The Parlotones, have announced the second leg of the tour, which is set to arrive at The Lyric on Wednesday, September 23, at Gold Reef City.
Hot on the heels of their ‘Stand Like Giants’ album, ‘Antiques & Artefacts’ has proven to be yet another best-seller for the group. Fans can look forward to a variety of new songs at the concert, as well as hit songs like ‘Beautiful’, ‘Push Me To The Floor’, ‘Giant Mistake’, ‘I’m Only Human’, ‘Disappear Without A Trace’, and ‘Baby Be Mine’.
“The Parlotones have a massive fan-base in Johannesburg and we are delighted to bring them to The Lyric, where music lovers will have the opportunity to revel in the group’s electric showmanship, poetic lyrics and darkly romantic melodies,” says Gareth Kaschula, Marketing Manager at Gold Reef City
The four piece rock band has achieved multiplatinum-selling status in South Africa, selling more records than Coldplay, The Killers and Oasis put together. The Parlotones have toured extensively across Southern Africa, Europe, UK and America with a few visits to Japan, South America and Australia. They have released seven full length studio albums, headlined the 20000-seater Coca-Cola Dome, performed to an audience of a billion at the 2010 World Cup kick-off concert, and were handpicked by Coldplay to open the British band’s stadium shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The Parlotones are also a band with a social conscience and have been involved with Earth Hour, Live Earth, Nelson Mandela’s 46664 and the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Rhino Force, United against Malaria and in 2012 they climbed Mt Kilimanjaro as part of an awareness campaign to end violence against women and children in Africa.
“The Lyric has established itself as a hugely popular live-music venue attracting many of South Africa’s top bands and performers. Part of the appeal of The Lyric for live music entertainment is the state-of-the-art sound and lighting and the capacity to host large audiences. This is a great place for The Parlotones to once again wow their Johannesburg fans and music lovers alike”, concludes Kaschula.
