Life In Color will be reaching the African continent for the first time as Johannesburg becomes one of the 110 cities worldwide to host the World’s Largest Paint Party in 2015.
The excitement will be taking place at JHB Expo Centre, Nasrec, on Saturday, September 5. The “Big Bang – The Creation of Color” World tour visitation of Jozi promises to be a singularly energetic and unforgettable experience. The event will see a series of countdowns take place throughout the night letting the crowd know whenever the paint canons will be going off – known as the “Big Bang” – and blasting paint across the crowd. The crowd’s response with each “Big Bang” countdown becomes more and more electrifying as the night progresses.
Joining International headliner, Danny Avila (Spain), on the evening are the following top local DJ’s:
• TiMO ODV
• DJ Kent
• Pascal & Pearce
• Roger Goode
• Vin Deysel
• Mark Stent
• Kyle Cassim
Only the brave will dare to stand in the front as the Life In Color crew also use hoses to spray paint across the crowd.
Party-goers will be able to buy their own bottles of paint at the event and people are encouraged to dress in white clothing to serve as a “canvas” for the paint. Don’t worry; the paint is very safe and non-toxic.
Life In Color will include a variety of artistic, circus-styled performers who will entertain the crowd from the uniquely designed stage, creating an intoxicating visual and performance spectacle during each DJ’s set. CEO Sebastian Solano has described the increasingly choreographed Life in Color events as being “almost like a Broadway show, but with such an energized crowd you would need to see it to believe it.”
In 2013, the tour reached over 25 countries, with a plan to expand the following year. At that point, headlining DJs had included Afrojack, Axwell. Alleso, Benny Benassi, Chuckie, R3hab, etc. Regular features in shows beyond paint blasts included aerial acts, stilt walkers, contortionists, and fire shows. In 2013, Life in Color began to hold larger music festival events, featuring multiple stages and a larger line-up.
In 2014, the festival was expanded to two days and received a total attendance of 60000. It also featured an attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the “Most people covered in paint at one time”.
