10 year celebration of youthful ballet

Cape Junior Ballet Company, one of the most prestigious youth ballet companies in the country, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with a show called ‘Movin’ On’, which will be at the Bellville Civic Centre on Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5.

The show highlights some of the choreographies performed by the company over the years, and also introduces new works by choreographers of the calibre of Robin van Wyk of Cape Town City Ballet, and Kirsten Isenberg, whose Neo-classical work ‘On And On’ will premiere at this show.

Cape Junior Ballet is directed by well-known Cape Town ballet teacher Dianne Cheesman, who has been teaching for 40 years and examining dancers as an internationally accredited Royal Academy of Dance examiner for 30 years.

The show will also feature a number by Cape Town City Ballet dancers Cleo Ames (a former member of CJB) and Conrad Nusser/Meghan Henegan and Revil Yon.

All in all there are 12 classical, Neo-classical and contemporary dances by senior and junior members of the company for dance enthusiasts to look forward to.
