The Community Chest Carnival – one of Southern Africa’s leading Charity Fundraising Events – returns in 2015 for the 63rd time. What began as a theatrical garden party, has transformed into a festival of local and international cuisine, home-grown talent, a kaleidoscope of family fun and entertainment – all for the purpose of raising money for charity.
The Community Chest of the Western Cape has redesigned their popular Carnival after a year-long break. The Carnival will, as in previous years, be held at the refurbished Maynardville Park over four days, from Wednesday, February 25, to Saturday, February 28.
‘We are pleased to once again be staging the Carnival which is not only one of the Mother City’s longest running events, it is also a platform for individuals and families alike to experience world class entertainment and activities”, said Community Chest CEO, Lorenzo Davids.
Visitors can look forward to some of their favourite foods that are synonymous with the Community Chest Carnival, from koeksisters to croquettes to authentic pasta from Italy. This year, Carnival goers can also look forward to other innovative food and entertainment options including a skate park, street-food trucks, vintage clothing, pop-up shops and organic fare.
The Community Chest has integrated organic lifestyle options with a mix of traditional Carnival elements in order to provide the greater Cape Town region with a unique culinary and world-class entertainment experience.
“We have been influenced by the people of Cape Town and have taken into account the suggestions over the past year. By combining new local lifestyle options with Carnival classics we have raised the platform and have created a fresh dynamic, ensuring that we cater for all Carnival-goers”, says Davids.
