City mourns loss of music icon, Zayn Adam

Statement by the City’s Executive Mayor, Patricia De Lille
It is with great sadness that I learnt of the death of one of Cape Town’s most talented musical sons, Zayn Adam, in the early hours of this morning.
Zayn Adam – the front-man of the renowned 1970s jazz band, Pacific Express – was a name synonymous with Cape Town musical history and he will be remembered as a legend in his own right, with over 50 years’ experience in the music industry.
I will be attending the funeral service of Mr Adam in Walmer Estate later today to pay my last respects to a gentle soul and a man who made an immense contribution to the musical landscape of the Mother City.
He blessed Cape Town, South Africa and the world with his mesmerising, soulful voice and we are forever thankful for his contribution to Cape Town music and its rich history.
