The countdown to the Cape Town Prawn Festival at Kenilworth Racecourse on Saturday, February 21, has begun.
Breco Seafoods are the new sponsor of the Prix du Cap and their managing director Etienne Braun, who is a passionate racehorse owner himself, said, “The Prawn Festival is a good fun event and a nice family day out. It is the last meeting of the Summer of Champions and provides an opportunity to reward patrons who have been attending meetings the whole season.”
CTS are the new sponsors of the Chairman’s Cup. Chris van Niekerk is the Chairman of both Kenilworth Racing and CTS and said, “These initiatives are important in order to bring people back to the track.”
Prawns will be sold at unbeatable prices in portions of either a kilogram (R109p/p) or half a kilogram (R69p/p). Fresh and scrumptious, they will come with either a side of rice or chips and a choice of sauces, including peri-peri, lemon butter and garlic butter.
Racegoers will be able to soak up live entertainment on the day and will be able to watch performances of the Cape Carnival minstrels.
The kids will as always be amply catered for too. Activities for the little ones will include face painting, a jumping castle, temporary tattoo artists and much more.
On the day there will be a series of giveaways, providing attendees the opportunity of winning a range of home appliances to the value of R50000. One lucky racegoer will land the grand prize of home appliances to the value of R20000. Another opportunity for racegoers on course is the prize that Breco Seafood’s will be giving away, namely a fridge with a seafood voucher to the value of R2000.
There is bound to be something to tickle every fancy.
